Should you start an Etsy store in 2022? Is it to oversaturated? Or, is it a great way to make extra cash for your summer vacation?
The short answer is yes! The long answer is well, keep reading and find out if you should start selling on Etsy in 2022?
Why should you sell on Etsy? You have an item to sell, Etsy has a platform full of buyers, ready to buy from you! Sounds like a win win so far? Well keep reading, my friend, keep reading! Etsy sales in 2020 more than doubled their own stats than in 2019. Etsy was on the rise, until it’s recent boycott due to increase sales and very little Etsy support!
The good, the bad, the ugly. You think you have an idea, you make a product and list it on Etsy. You set up the app on your phone so you can hear that lovely cash register sale notification on your phone.
In reality, if your like most sellers, at first, you hear …. silence, crickets, whatever you want to call it! The lack of sales, the lack of money hitting your account. Then the Karens come out, the freebie seekers. Can I have your item for free?( You can sign up for freebies on my website, though.)
I do send monthly emails for free journals and planners, sometimes commercial use ones to! This one is a great example!
No matter if it’s a planner you make, or a baby onesie.
They are in search for your hard earned items! I make planners and printable items that you can check out here! I would work hours and hours on a planner.
After many hours of working on this, I would take the time and trouble of listing the item, adding your key words, doing the research, and someone comes and says, can I have your already low priced planner for free? No, you may not, lol! And Etsy does charge for each listing, it’s only 20 cents, and if you sign up at this link, then you can get 40 listings for free! Who doesn’t like free stuff?
Now, selling on Etsy can be wonderful! List items, and once you get into your groove, and start selling, then it becomes easier and easier. There are other things I do not like about Etsy, is that you are forced to run ads. Someone may say well your not forced to list on Etsy. You are very right, my friend. Etsy, though, has a default of a $1 a day ads on their site, that most people may not realize. The ad setting will not let you go lower than $1! I tried! It may take you awhile to get into that grove! But, do your research first!
Then, if you are in the need of help, it is so hard to get help on Etsy! It’s easy for the buyer’s to get help, but so difficult for the sellers. I buy on Etsy a lot, mainly commercial use graphics for my planners, etc. You can also buy from creative fabrica to get a lot for one monthly fee. Their are other sites like this, as well.
Now speaking of other sites, you can also open a Shopify site! Check out mine here! Of course, you can take the plunge, and just start your own website. I started mine about two years ago! If you want to learn more about starting your own site, Suzi Whitford is amazing! You can check her out here! She has made millions with her blog! If you want to learn to make pretty printables and sell them, she shows you the secret sauce here! You can see my full honest review in this video here!
Yes, I have your back! What do I mean?
I have free planners and journals that you can even rebrand and resell in your own store! Whether it be on Etsy, Shopify, or your own website!
You can sign up below for freebies! I send out at least one or two a month, and sometimes that many on a weekly basis!
Now, there are ways to increase sales, of course! On Creative Fabrica, I found this free Etsy Niche Guide!
