Freebie: 7 Secrets to Eating Healthier with Easy Keto

When I was first starting Keto, I stepped on the scale one day, and was weighing in at one of my heaviest weights ever, at 247. I was like, NO GIRL, WE ARE NOT GOING TO KEEP DOING WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING! I started Keto October of 2018 and have lost about 45 pounds over the last two years!

Before beginning keto/low carb you should go through and clean out your kitchen out of all the junk food.  Pack up any unopened boxes and take them to your local food pantry or even firehouse.  You can even bring home a fireman, hey, might need someone to help put out your fire! Just kidding!

Okay, now with that out of the way, I’m super excited to share the top 7 secrets I discovered on my OWN path to achieving low carb success. Let’s start with #1.

Secret #1: Plan Your grocery list!

There are several keto youtubers and instagram famous people out there.  I love to follow Katherine Michelle’s youtube videos, and I Have made several of her keto recipes, and will be starting meal prep for keto this weekend!  I did also buy some wonderful meal prep containers that are awesome for this!  I like these three sided containers!

Secret #2 Take time to meal prep! 

Take the time to meal prep!  If you have all of your snacks and lunch with you at the office, no reason to cheat! Don’t be caught off guard.  

Kat takes the hard work out of meal prep!  She meal preps like a pro!  Check out this easy broccili cheese casserole, it is sooooo yummy and easy.  I have made it many times.

 Kat does mention that she adjusts the recipe to the ingredients she has at home. This can be a time saver, and a money saver.  I have done the same to!  If they call for fresh garlic, and you don’t have any on hand, it’s okay to just use the regular garlic seasoning.

 

Secret #3: Find the cheaper versions of keto snacks at your dollar stores or Walmart.

If you are not sure where your local Dollar Tree, Big Lots or Dollar General store is, go ahead and google it.  Or, better yet, download your Dollar General store app on your iPhone, or Android, and you can go through the app, and add coupons to your app.  Also, there are times, I think, it’s either Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, items get marked even further down, so you can grab a lot of snacks, for not a lot of money.  I would add my coupons in, and then I would go to the store on my lunch break, and pickup some pepperoni, cheese and sausage snack packs, and a can of nuts is cheap there to, or at least a lot cheaper than most grocery stores.  You may even find some Bang energy drinks there. If your not sure what that is, check it out here on Amazon!  I do have to give out a warning, as someone blasted me on a mommy group for not giving it there.  It has a whopping 300 mg of caffeine(man I could go for that right now, as Red Bull does not give you wings, unless you are Lucifer’s sister!  (an awesome Netflix show we are all binging on.  Currently, there are two things I binge watch.  One is Lucifer, and the other is Suzi Whitford.  See my first post about the wonderful, awesome mommy blogger that has taught me how to blog.  That’s for another blog post, lol.

 

Secret #4: Download my fitness pal app!

It doesn’t have to be my fitness pal, and this is not a sponsored post by them, it’s just so easy to use, and has a lot of punch for it’s free version.  I absolutely love it.  You can add in your exercise, your water, and when you are adding in what you eat, you can access just about any fast food menu, and it will tell you the amount of not just carbs, but calories, and other nutritional information.  If you want to upgrade, you can set your limits for your carbs so you know how close you are, depending upon what you set your net carbs for, or total carbs, if you count all carbs.  

Secret #5 Plan your grocery store visit with these handy dandy printable shopping list!

Here are the blank ones, and yes there are some ones that I am working on currently, already filled out, and I can even email you a weekly meal plan! Take the guess work out of what to eat on a daily basis, just eat what Mom (theunpopularmom, lol) tells you to!

 

 

Secret #6 Sign up for our Free grocery planners!!

See the above picture, it’s laid out the same as a grocery store would be, and you can even pull up say the walmart app and see what aisle the everything but the bagel seasoning is!  It’s so good on scrambled or boiled eggs – don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!  It will help you save time with your grocery trips and stay organized, even if you want to stay home and order through the kroger app, or instacart app.
