Sharing is caring!

Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but I couldn’t keep it to myself. With the end of a year, and a new one approaching, they are hiring again, and I’m here to give you a run down of the ups and downs of working at both. This will be a weekly series of mine, and, in the future, we will go through a lot of work at home jobs that I have been through, in my decade plus of working there. Along with different work at home companies, and what to watch out for, what to do, what not to do, and, in the future, I will even walk through how to build an awesome HIRE ME NOW resume!

Disclaimer: nothing can guarantee you a job, plain and simple. If someone promises you otherwise, run now, because it’s a total scam. I’m just giving you my background and how I was able to make over $2500 consistently, month in and month out!

I’ll leave links of where to apply at the bottom of this article, and check back with me here, and on my YouTube channel. This video was actually one of my most popular videos this year!

Check it out here!

Let’s start on the positive side of things, I’ll run through the ups of Liveops, the ups of Arise, comparing both, and of course, I did a full comparison in another video that I will leave down below for you, as well. Of course, I do like to be fully transparent, so THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST, NOR AM I CURRENTLY AFFILIATED WITH EITHER COMPANY. THIS IS NOT A PAID POST.

The most obvious reasons are no commute, except I used to call it my walk down the hallway, lol, and the boot up time. How long does it take you to load up your programs, be ready to rock and roll, and go into their available state in taking calls, meaning your ready to answer that call and help the customer. I tried to allow about 15 minutes, because sometimes you might run into a tech issue. Sometimes you may find out your internet is down, and have to report it to your provider, and also try to find someone to swap the next shift with you.

That takes us into the next positive of working from home. This one is also a downside. FLEXIBILITY. You can create your own schedule that completely fits you and your family needs, within the hours of the client that you are working for. Some clients, like the one that handles the insurance first notice of loss claims lines, are only open for you to take calls for, between the hours of 9am-5pm, est, I do believe, unless they changed it to within your time zone.

Now PopMom, why in the world is flexibility a bad thing? Because, first off, you have to be VERY DISCIPLINED to work at home.

baby, newborn, sleep

Do you want to take a two hour lunch break, and nap, or clean, etc, or do you want to make a quick lunch, eat at your desk for 30 minute break.

Do you want to take three days off every week? You can, but then again, your not going to be one of the top producers. Top producers do also some benefits that your average producer gets, such as first pick to the hours selection. I will go into more details about the hours selection, as well.

You also need to almost “train” your family to be disciplined. I was able to teach my 2 year old, Mommy is working, while his Daddy was also at home, while I would work, he knew he had to be somewhat quiet and he would respect that. My neighbor even knew I was working and would not answer the door. I over heard him tell a telemarketer that, lol. Along with that, you have to be able to teach your family members, not just the ones that live at home with you, but possibly Mom, Dad, crazy aunts (we all have at least that one) and anyone else that may want to attempt to have you do all of their busy work throughout the day, since, after all, we are at home, right??? I would actually say no, I’m at work. If they wanted to debate, I would tell them, and going into even, if I don’t work x number of hours a week, I won’t make what I need to, to be able to stay at home with my family. That would usually make them stop asking, but I would even not answer my cell, unless it was a true emergency. Those definitely happen, as well.

That’s another plus and minus. You need to know how many hours you need to work, in order to make this work for you. How much do you need to pay your bills? How much more than that do you, personally need to have, to even survive. How much do you want to make, within reason, lol.

Are you going to make 6k a month working for live ops. Not unless you are a higher up, and possibly even the owner of liveops. I don’t give any fluff here. I give you the truth of whatever it is that I am posting about. That’s why I am here, to help out other moms, dads, anyone that finds my blog. You will need to see if your able to fit that many hours in a day. Some clients, you can work 8-10 a day. Other times, you may need multiple clients in order to make that much. For instance, me, and a few other agents, would work for the claims department from 9am-5pm, if your able to get that many hours, and most of the time, for the most part, you are able to get those hours, and then after 5, for instance, take calls for one of the food delivery clients, or a telemarketer client on the weekends, if you want to work the weekends.

Some of us, would work liveops during the day, arise into the evening. and some arise clients do require 4 weekend hours, and some require holiday hours, but, you will know that upfront.  Don’t select one to work for, if you don’t plan on working the weekends.  You will receive emails, and they will let you go, if you don’t consistently meet the hour requirement.  With that being said, if you want to work two hours Saturday morning, one hour that evening, and one hour on Sunday, you can split it up that way.  Some clients are three weekend hours, some do not have weekend hours, but most did.

Another plus is bonuses. Not the normal type, but, drawings. For example, let’s say you work the pizza client during the Super  bowl, they do giveaways, take a call, your entered to win, and I won more than once, $200 that was added to my next check, very nice surprise.

With Arise, they don’t really have these kind of bonuses, but they do have bonuses for performance.  This also goes into being first for first selection of hours. I worked for one of the cell providers, on their chat line.  I loved this line.  While it wasn’t one of the higher paying clients, like one of the cruise line, before Covid, it was enjoyable.  Another client, a popular bookstore, still is a client for Arise, has both phone lines, and an email line you can work for.  We were able to work both of those at the same time, unless that has changed. Meaning, in between phone calls, you could answer emails. With that being said, as long you were in the available state, and near your computer, phone cord length, you could do about anything you wanted to, as long as you have a quiet workspace.

Quiet workspace was always a requirement. During your interview, if you have to interview, they will listen out for dogs. If your neighbor has a dog, try to see if you can do your interview while the neighbor is at home, maybe even see if they can put the dog inside, and get some good noise cancellation headphones.  You will need something like this one. That is for both liveops and Arise! Please check the websites for the computer requirements, before even applying at any work at home job! Here is the link to apply for Arise!

I’m going to be working on a worksheet that lists the differences, like in my video here, so be sure to sign up below, and I will have a work at home planner up very soon.  Keep checking back for that to, and more work at home comparisons.  I will be uploading some more in depth videos on my Youtube Channel
